Student Handbook

The best way to contact your student’s teachers or their principal is via email.

Include important information in your message, such as:

• Student First and Last Name
• Parent First and Last Name
• Why you are emailing
• Allow 24 hours for a reply

If you would rather be called please specify that in your email and give a good phone number for calling back. 

If you must speak with your student’s principal, you MUST make an appointment via email or by calling the main office where you will be transferred to their office. If they do not answer, please leave a clear and detailed message.

Please call our attendance line at 405-587-9200 and leave a detailed message.

You ONLY have 5 call-ins per semester, after that all other absences will be unexcused, unless you have a doctor’s note or any other documentation (ex. Passport appointment, court date, etc.)

Attendance is taken in the first 5 minutes of class.

If a student is more than 15 minutes tardy, they are marked absent from that class.

If your student rides the bus, we need your support to take some steps in ensuring your student gets to school and home safely. 

Please make a note card or a piece of paper and write the following information on it:

• Student's Name
• Home Address
• Bus Number / Stop where your child gets off    
• Emergency Contact and Phone Number

    
Please make sure your student keeps this note card in their pocket at all times. This information will help our bus drivers in making sure that students get off the bus on the correct stop. This is especially important for young students and students who are riding the bus for the first time as they are not familiar with the routes and where they need to get on/off the bus.

Bus Riders & Walkers

1. Enter building immediately through main entrance.
2. Follow scan procedures.
3. If you have a bag for athletics, leave it at the cart and it will be taken to the locker room.
4. Go to the cafeteria if you would like to have breakfast.
5. Go directly to your grade level holding location if you are not having breakfast. (5th/6th practice gym and 7th/8th competition gym)

Car Riders

1. Enter the building from the east side.
2. Follow scan procedures.
3. If you have a bag for athletics, leave it at the cart and it will be taken to the locker room.
4. Go to the cafeteria if you would like to have breakfast.
5. Go directly to your grade level holding location if you are not having breakfast.

Car Riders: Exit the building through the East side.

Walkers: Exit the building through the stairwells.

Bus Riders: Go to the practice gym and wait for your bus route to be called.

• Student comes in through the Main Entrance alone.
• Go through scanning.
• Check in with the main office staff, where you will get a pass to class. If you were at an appointment, turn your note in at this time.

• No checkouts after 3:30pm.
• The person who is picking up the student must ring the Intercom Doorbell, let us know who they are picking up, and MUST show ID to the camera.
• The student will meet you outside in the front.
• The student may not leave class until office staff has called for the student.

• Permanent Markers
• Small backpack or purses
• Trapper keepers
• Personal grooming items (makeup, hair picks or brushes, perfume, eyelash curlers, cologne, etc.)
• We DO NOT ALLOW BACKPACKS of any kind    

• Walk on right side of hallway.
• Keeps hands, feet, objects, inappropriate comments to yourself.
• Move safely and walk with purpose (no running).
• Use school appropriate language.
• Keep hallways clean (pick up after yourself).
• Be in class on time.  Hallways should be clear when class starts.
• A pass is required during class time to be in hallway.
• Student will respectfully stop and speak with any staff member of Skyline Middle School when asked a question.
   

You are welcome to bring your lunch!

• Lunches will stay with you as you travel from class to class but you may only eat at lunch.
• No open or previously opened containers will be allowed.
• We will not accept Doordash or any other food delivery service.

If your student is an athlete, they are allowed to bring snacks and drinks for practice, but snacks must stay in their athletic bag. Athletic Bags will be taken during scanning and stored in the locker where they will pick it up after school.
